The Schacht Cricket is a small portable rigid heddle loom.
It measures just 11" X 18" X 6" and weighs about 4 pounds -- so it's easy to store and easy to travel to classes or guild meetings.
Ten inches of weaving width provides plenty of opportunities.
Despite it's low price point, this loom maintains Schacht's build quality. The sturdy maple and strong claws allow a good tension and nice beat. Front and back tension beams above the cloth bars allow for more even tension across your warp.
The updated "Version 2.0" adds some great improvements -- the ratchet gears and claws have been moved to the outside of the loom (allowing for easier warping and tension without worrying about threads slipping into the gear), and the heddle has a slightly expanded length to add some stability.
The Cricket comes with an 8-dent reed. 5, 10, and 12 dent reeds are available as optional accessories. Also included are a threading hook, table clamps, warping peg, two stick shuttles, and two balls of yarn.
This is the perfect kit for a beginner looking to try out weaving, but will maintain it's usefulness for easy and portable projects throughout your weaving career.
